About Us

In 1985, William Mattingly, MA, ABOM, HFOAA created Mattingly International, a company distributing low vision rehabilitation products directly to eye care professionals. The Mattingly International Catalog quickly became an indispensable tool for all low vision rehabilitation practices. It was the one source where eye care professionals could find all low vision products in one place, compare product specifications, and make appropriate choices for their patients. Mattingly International was sold to the New York Lighthouse in 1999 and became Lighthouse Professional Products. In 2005, Optelec U.S., Inc. purchased the Professional Products Division and the catalog from the New York Lighthouse. January 1, 2007 marks the debut of Optelec's sister company LowVision.com, and our revised and updated version of the Mattingly International Catalog, Products for EyeCare Professionals.
Founded in 2007, LowVision.com was created to become the resource center for Low Vision. Recognizing the need, Lynne Noon, OD and Optelec U.S., Inc. joined forces to fill in the gap between patient and doctor in the Low Vision Industry. The purpose was to give patients, friends and family of patients, and doctors a forum to find all their answers and solutions in one place. With that concept in mind, LowVision.com is the one stop shop for all low vision needs. Whether it is information, news, discussion groups, or products, LowVision.com is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with visual impairments.
To help establish a better practice model for visually impaired solutions, ShopLowVision.com a sister company of LowVision.com was formed. This eCommerce Website has the most comprehensive line – nearly 7,000 low vision solutions with daily living products, video magnifiers, optical products, and professional tools. It is the first ever low vision e-commerce store with business to business, business to consumer, and business to professional interface all-in-one. Most of all it is the first e-commerce site aligned with best practice model for low vision rehabilitation (AOA, AAO, AOTA, AER).
Although our catalog has gone through several changes over the past few years, it is sure to remain a valuable practice tool and is truly the one stop shop for the eye care professional. Please enjoy ShopLowVision.com's Products for EyeCare Professionals. Everyone at LowVision.com looks forward to bringing you the finest and largest assortment of low vision rehabilitation products, educational materials, practice materials, and marketing support.
